The tranquility of the lush green  landscapes was nothing like anything I had ever seen. Gentle breeze blowing through the vibrant green wheat fields, clouds casting a shadow on the lush greens creating beautiful contrast and light breaking through shimmered like emeralds. It was surreal. Standing in that expansive land I felt at peace, feeling of “Nirvana”. I wanted to capture every winding road, quaint old barns, yellows of canola fields, rich greens of wheat and vast sky in my camera so I can relive these tranquil moments over and over.

When I had the desire to paint landscapes I knew how I wanted them to look and feel. I scrolled through my phone to find the magical photos of Palouse I had taken a couple of years back and How I wished I could go back there again. These paintings aren’t actual rendering of the photographs but a blend of reality and imagination. I start with a reference photo but as it progresses I let my intuition take over and let my feelings guide me. It is a visual journal of my thoughts where words are replaced with colors and texture.

In painting these landscapes I have focused more on  how I want each piece to feel instead of capturing every detail. My desire is for you to connect with the same serenity and tranquility through these paintings. I’ll continue posting as the pieces progres in coming posts so stay tuned.
